Are you a student looking for a fun, well-paid summer job in Ontario? WR Detasseling is now accepting applications for the 2025 corn detasseling season! Whether it’s your first job or you’re returning for another great season, we’ve got a spot for you.

We’re hiring students aged 12 and up across Chatham, Blenheim, Tilbury, Ridgetown, and surrounding areas.

🌽 What Is Corn Detasseling?

Detasseling is the process of removing the pollen-producing tassels from the tops of corn plants to help create hybrid seed corn. It’s honest, outdoor work that thousands of students across Ontario do each summer.

It only lasts a few weeks, but the experience (and paycheck) lasts much longer!

✅ Why Work With WR Detasseling?

  • Short Season, Big Payoffs
    The job lasts around 3–4 weeks in July and August, giving you time to enjoy the rest of summer.

  • Earn Good Money
    In 2024, the hourly rates were:

    • $15.60/hr (Group A, under 18)

    • $16.55/hr (Group B, 18 and over)

    • We also pay bonuses for performance and attendance!

  • No Experience Needed
    New to detasseling? No problem. You’ll receive full training from our friendly and experienced crew leaders.

  • Work Outdoors
    Enjoy being active in the fresh air instead of stuck indoors or behind a screen.

  • Make Friends & Build Confidence
    You’ll meet other students your age and build real-world job skills like teamwork, time management, and responsibility.

  • All required personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Daily safety briefings

  • Constant supervision by experienced crew leaders

👤 Who Can Apply?

You must:

  • Be 12 years old or older by July 1, 2025

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)

  • Be legally allowed to work in Canada

  • Be willing to work early mornings and be physically active outdoors
